PUBLIC COMMENT AT COUNCIL MEETINGS

The schedule for council meetings can be found on the city's website here (use your browser's "Back" button to return to this page) .

There are two opportunities for public comment at city council meetings.

If you wish to address the council on a matter that is not on that nights regular meeting agenda you must use the "Public Comment" period at the beginning of the meeting.

If you wish to address the council on a matter that is on that nights regular meeting agenda you must wait until the item you are interested in comes up.  You will need to go to the chair at the table in front of the dais and ask to make a comment.  You should give your name and address.

The table has an overhead camera that can display graphics on the television screens located around the room as well as to the home audience.

Having your comments in writing can help ward off nervousness you might experience if you are not used to speaking in front of a group.   You can ask the chair to make your written remarks  part of the record which means the minutes would show your name, topic, and reference your document.  You should provide a copy of the document to the Recording Secretary and hand 5 copies to whoever is chairing the meeting.
