ROSEVILLE - Former Roseville Council Member Al Kehr wants to give it another try.

Kehr, 88, says he's so fed up with the behavior at City Hall that he's primed to come out of retirement.

"The last two years have been atrocious -- atrocious, to say the least,'' said Kehr, who was on the council from 1978 to 1989. "It's absolutely embarrassing for the community.''

Kehr, who supported Mayor John Kysylyczyn in 1999, says he still stands by the mayor's accomplishments but that he's not happy with the council as a whole. When asked, he said he was not attached to a mayoral candidate.

"I want to restore decency and respect,'' he said. "I'm going to fight my own battle.''

So far, one other candidate has filed for council: Stuart Shwiff. Incumbent Dean Maschka's term ends this year.
